Making Better Choices

Pizza or salad? Potato chips or carrot sticks? Hard questions, right? We get it. Healthier eating is a big lifestyle change. Instead of revolutionizing your diet, it is best to make small changes here and there to work your way into a new routine. Take your time and see which changes taste great and work for you. Play “this for that” to make nutritious swaps and get the most out of your meals.

Fruits and veggies are our best shot at getting multiple vitamins, minerals and other antioxidants in one serving, so finding inventive ways to sneak them into your diet is helpful. Fruits are great to swap with sugary desserts, or top your favorite dessert with fruit. While veggies make for excellent side dishes instead of classic favorites (French fries, for example) or use vegetables as additional flavor for tried and true recipes.

Whole grains are a hidden source of fiber, protein, and other nutrients. Switching your rice and breads to a whole grain option is an easy way to start. Feeling adventurous? Look to incorporate additional whole grains into your meals by sprinkling them, mixing them, crushing them, etc. — whichever way works for you!

Making better choices is all about finding creative ways to enjoy flavorful food that’s packed with better-for-you benefits. You really can have the best of both worlds!
