Imagine you’re at work, doing what you do every day. But today, there’s something different… you’re standing next to a celebrity! That was the experience for three of our chefs in Wilmington, NC as they stood shoulder-to-shoulder with one of Food Network’s biggest stars – celebrity chef Guy Fieri.
Together, our very own David Hadley, Willie Dixon and Stevenson Lamarre prepared breakfast and lunch for 350 guests at an event for the Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington. Also known as GLOW, the academy is a non-profit charter that focuses on closing the achievement gap for low-income students.
With only 15 chefs and 700 meals to prepare, the challenge sparked excitement and the energy was through the roof! “It reminded me of the high impact, adrenaline rush, days of working in the kitchen of major hotel chains in my younger years,” said David Hadley. “The most rewarding aspect of working this event was that I got to serve my community and help the GLOW Academy raise $600,000. It was a memorable day, and I was glad to help.”
Raising $600k for a good cause with your favorite celebrity? Sounds like a memorable day. Don’t you think? Way to go chefs!
