Easy and Fun Drop Biscuits Recipe

These fun-to-make biscuits are easy enough for the kids to help and are endlessly compatible with any assortment of toppings for a perfect side to any holiday meal.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups flour
  • 6 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 rounded tbsp baking powder
  • 2 cups COLD butter
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425ºF
  • Place flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a mixing bowl
  • Cut the cold butter into 1/2 inch cubes
  • Work the butter into the dry mixture with your hands
  • Add buttermilk and eggs to dry mixture
  • Mix until incorporated. Don't overmix.
  • Pinch off biscuits and place on a lined baking sheet
  • Bake until tops are golden brown (usually about 14 minutes)

Notes

Cold butter is key. Freeze the butter beforehand to ensure it stays cold until baking.
