Giving back with Congress and Operation Homefront

Our U.S. soldiers and military personnel go as far as they can to keep this nation safe. An organization called Operation Homefront aims to assist those dedicated men and women and their families in any way possible by providing food assistance, auto or home repair, moving assistance, essential items and more. The goal behind this group is to provide long-term stability for military families during difficult financial times. What a wonderful cause!

Sharing similar interests to give back, our industry association, NAMA (National Automated Merchandising Association), partnered with Operation Homefront at the NAMA Fly-In in Washington D.C. for their annual Back-To-School Brigade. Every year, they distribute backpacks filled with supplies to roughly a quarter of a million military kids around the country to help them prepare for school! How great is that?!

Canteen supporting military familiesDuring the two day Fly-In event in July, Canteen volunteers worked hand-in-hand with members of Congress to support this initiative. Our own Canteen Suitland Director, Steve Boucher, was so excited to represent Canteen in our nation’s capital. “We worked with NAMA and Congress members to stuff backpacks with school supplies and provide them to military families who were at the event.”

We are so proud to support our veterans and realize just how impactful something as simple as a backpack and school supplies can be for their families. Learn more about our commitment to veterans at Canteen.com.
