Meet George Gentile – a dedicated member of our Canteen team for the past two years. We think he’s pretty awesome and want to tell you why. George is an OCS Route Driver at our Penn CRS branch, who is a valued peer among his co-workers and indispensable to his customers. In fact, he won driver of the quarter after receiving nine perfect scores from customer surveys. Way to go, George!

Outside of work, he enjoys golfing and kayaking, and is a huge Redskins and Notre Dame fan. George is also a proud father of two with five grandchildren and a French bulldog.

What some people may not know about George is that he bravely served our country for 15 years in the US Army, 10 years of that time was spent in Germany. “I loved this job the most,” George said. “I enjoyed traveling and all of the people I met, and that’s part of the reason I love the job I have now.”

During his time in the military, he worked as a telecommunications center operator and was awarded the highest recognition for non-combat heroism when he and another soldier rescued a father and his two sons from their burning apartment. And they didn’t stop there… Both men re-entered the blazing building to save a mother and her three children from the balcony! “Lights were bursting from the heat, but we were able to save them too,” George said.

What those two men did that day was nothing short of amazing. Today, George continues to be a hero to his daughters and grandchildren and is an associate we are so proud to have on our team. Thank you for your service, George!
