Our Story

A History of Innovation

We started innovating way back in 1929. Nathaniel Leverone, our founder, had a vision focused on three timeless principles that we still follow to this day:

Integrity | Customer Focus | Innovation

These ideals completely changed the perception and future of vending machines and foodservice and established Canteen as a front-runner in the industry. From the first peanut-dispensing coin-operated machines on train platforms in Chicago to completely automated cafeterias in mid-century corporate offices, we have pioneered the expansion of vending into factories, schools, offices and healthcare facilities.

We have proudly led the industry for more than 85 years (we think we look pretty good for our age) and are the only nationwide automated merchandising company in the United States! With over 200 company and franchise locations servicing 48 states, we have continued to grow through a commitment to our clients, a focus on guest experience, and by providing you with an unforgettable service.
